Ms. Shirley K J (Mrs Shirley Philip) was born in Chennai. After completing school at Fatima Higher Secondary school, she completed her graduation, post-graduation and M.Phil. in Economics from Stella Maris College, Chennai. Her research area for M.Phil. was women entrepreneurship. She has also completed B.Ed. from Mahatma Gandhi University. She has now submitted her Ph.D. thesis at Mahatma Gandhi University on “Rural-Urban Migration- A Study of Women Employees in Trade and Commerce in Kochi city”. She started her career as junior lecturer in the Department of Economics at Stella Maris College, Chennai. Later she worked as a teacher at Viswajyothi public school, Angamaly. She joined Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy in 1995 as lecturer in the Department of Economics.
