The department of Botany was started in 1991 as a complementary subject for students of B.Sc Zoology. The department was headed by Ms Celine T.T. The department has a well equipped museum with plant specimens as well as experimental set up as per the syllabus given by Calicut University. The department maintains a botanical and medicinal garden. As a part of the field study, students are taken to nearby forests as well as institutes such as agricultural university, Kerala Forest Research Institute, Peechi.
