On January 11, 2024, the science departments of the college organized the "Sasthrasametham" program, a science lab visit initiative aimed at nurturing meritorious students from the Education Sub-district of Chalakkudi. This collaborative effort involved the district panchayat and the General Education Department of the Government of Kerala. The program was inaugurated by Ward Councillor Bindu Shashikumar, who emphasized the importance of promoting scientific exploration among students. Mrs. Ampili K.V., the Assistant Education Officer of Chalakkudi Education Sub-district, provided comprehensive insights into the various science projects featured in the program.
Selected students, recognized for their achievements in science fairs at both the high school and higher secondary levels, were privileged participants. The objective of the program was to acquaint these students with advanced science education, enhancing their understanding and interest in scientific disciplines. Throughout the program, students were exposed to a range of engaging activities, including demonstrations such as Chemistry Magic, exploration of telescopes for astronomy, visits to the Zoology Museum, and sessions on psychological analysis. These experiences enriched their knowledge and stimulated their curiosity in the scientific field.
Participants voiced their appreciation for the program, highlighting the need for more initiatives that facilitate hands-on learning and promote scientific inquiry. Their feedback underscores the significance of fostering a conducive environment for scientific exploration and education.
