The "Green Couture - Fashion with Purpose" event, an initiative of the Department of Economics, was a remarkable success and is worthy of recognition. Organized by the Eco Soc Club in association with E Progressive Waste, IQAC, and IIC, this interdepartmental fashion contest featured seven teams, each showcasing innovative and sustainably designed costumes created by student designers.
The event, held on October 18, 2023, at the Auditorium, began at 1 pm and concluded by 3 pm. The judging panel, comprised of Dr. Shirley Jose, former HOD of the Department of Economics at SH College, Mr. Jithin, Managing Partner of E Progressive Waste, and Ms. Shilpa Saibol, a fashion model and architect, added to the event's prestige.
The enthusiasm of both participants and the audience was palpable. Each team presented their designs on the runway and engaged in a one-minute question and answer session with the judges, showcasing their insights.
The valedictory function, where Principal Dr. Sr. Reena Ittyachan felicitated the gathering, was graced with valuable feedback from the judges, followed by the announcement of the results. The Department of Economics secured the title of champions and received a cash prize of 2000 INR sponsored by E Progressive Waste. The Department of Commerce was the first runner-up, earning a 1000 INR cash award sponsored by IQAC.
Notable individual awards went to Smruthi Rajesh from I BA Economics as the Best Costume Designer and Els Maria from the Department of Psychology as Miss Ramp walk.
This event celebrated both fashion and sustainability, making it a commendable success for the college community.
