The annual feast day of St. Alphonsa of the Immaculate Conception has traditionally been marked by celebrations at Sacred Heart College. This year, the feast day celebrations began with holy mass held in the college chapel, which all the catholic staff and students attended. Following the mass, everyone gathered in the college auditorium for the celebrations which began with a prayer led by Ms. Leens Tomy, Student, Department of Zoology. Ms. Anna Julia B Veliyan, the college chairperson welcomed the gathering. The principal, Dr. Sr. Irene, addressed the gathering and delivered the message for the day, in which she reflected on the life of saint Alphonsa, urging the students to inculcate her values in their lives. This was followed by a felicitation by Sr. Angela, Head of the Department of Malayalam who led the crowd through the life of St. Alphonsa. Neha James, a student from the department of commerce delivered a speech describing the life of the saint. Various events like speech, drawing and group song competitions were organised in connection with the feast and prizes for the same were awarded to the winners by the principal, Dr. Sr. Irene. A short play was staged by the students of the department of English presenting the audience with a visual treat. The feast day celebrations were concluded with a vote of thanks by Els Mary Joseph, student from the department of Psychology. The whole college came together to commemorate and celebrate the feast of St. Alphonsa, making the day a memorable one.
