NSS Units 76 & 84 of Sacred Heart College Chalakudy observed World Environment day on 6 June, 2024 . The official function began with the NSS song. Gowri, NSS Volunteer, welcomed the gatherings. Dr. Sr. Irene, Principal delivered the presidential address. Mr. V K Sreedharan, Environmentalist and Faculty KILA was the resource person. He delivered a thought provoking session regarding the urgent need to save our environment. It was followed by an oath taking ceremony. The felicitation note was delivered by Ms. Smitha Davis, Department of Mathematics. Guest of Honour Mr. V K Sreedharan, Environmentalist and Faculty KILA and Dr. Sr. Irene, Principal, Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy, distributed the saplings to the Heads of the various departments and student representatives. Saplings were planted in the college premises. The resource person, Principal, NSS programme officers, volunteers and students joined in witnessing the event. As a part of tribute to Sugathakumari teacher Navathi, a screening of the shortfilm AMMU was organized in the college auditorium. The film narrates the story of a little girl named AMMU who discovers a unique way to save a tree and it demonstrates the power of individual action.
