The Department of Chemistry observed Nagasaki Day through a series of engaging and educational activities designed to raise awareness about the historical significance of the Nagasaki atomic bombing and its far-reaching consequences. The day began with an oath-taking ceremony in the college auditorium, where students and faculty members united in a pledge to advocate for peace and nuclear disarmament.
Following the ceremony, Keerthana C. L., a second-year B.Sc. Chemistry student, delivered an informative awareness session that highlighted the events of Nagasaki, the profound impact of nuclear weapons, and the critical importance of fostering a peaceful world.
To further engage the student body, the department organized an online quiz focused on Nagasaki Day, attracting participation from students across various disciplines and deepening their understanding of the historical context and ongoing implications of nuclear warfare.
Additionally, a treasure hunt was conducted, where students collaborated in teams to solve clues related to the Nagasaki incident. This interactive format encouraged teamwork and critical thinking as participants pieced together information about the tragedy and its broader implications, enhancing the overall educational experience.
