Math Club

The Math club coordinates the activities organized by the Dept. of Mathematics. This club deals with those activities through which everyone can improve their Mathematical skills. The functioning of the club was coordinated by the Mathematics Association, “MATHEMATICA”.

The major academic and other activities of the department are:

• The Research and Post Graduate department of Mathematics organized an Analytical Thinking competition on 28-01-2026 to recognize the most logical female students. The competition named Math Diva was conducted to identify one among many students who took part in the event as the most logical person.
• The Department of Mathematics celebrated National Mathematics Day on 22/12/2025. An invited lecture was arranged for the students on the same day. The session was handled by Ms.Aishwarya Paul, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Providence college, Kozhikode.
• The Postgraduate and Research Department of Mathematics in association with IIC,IEDC and Women cell of the institute organised a session on entrepreneurship on 13-06-2025 in order to assist the students to develop among themselves the necessary entrepreneurship skills. The session was handled by the Executive Director of Mathlab Group, Dr. Anoop N Nair, Assistant professor, CE Pathanapuram.Being the founder of Mathlab Research he was the most apt person to share his experience about developing his institute into a well established one in Kerala.
• The Post-Graduate & Research Department of Mathematics in association with the Research Forum, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Chalakudy, organized a workshop on “Mastering AI Tools for Academic Research Excellence” on 29 July 2025, 4 August 2025, and 8 August 2025. The workshop was handled by Mr. Jasimudeen S, Chief Librarian, St.Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor.
• A research oriented session was organised by the department “ Unlocking the power of AI” on 17-02-2025. The invited talk was given by Dr. Krishnendu R, Assistant Professor, Christ (Deemed to be University), Bangalore.
• The inauguration of the Mathematics Department Association was a landmark event in the academic calendar of . The event aimed to establish a platform for promoting research,academic excellence and fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of mathematics in various fields of study. The inauguration ceremony was handled by Mr. Raveesh P Varrier, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, St. Aloysius college, Elthuruth, Thrissur by delivering a talk on “Play, Solve, Learn: Exploring Algebra through Games” on 16.12.2024
• A session on “Cracking the code : seizing opportunities in the era of Big data and AI” on 23-03-2024 was organized by the department. The session was handled by Ms. Krishnageethy N S, an alumni of our college who is presently working as a Data Scientist in Aria’s Science Lab, New Delhi.
• The Inauguration of the Association of Department of Mathematics “Meraki” was conducted on 19-12-2023. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Pravas K, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics, Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam.
• The department in collaboration with NSS observed the year of Millets by organising a food fest of millet products and an invited talk by Shri. V K Sreedharan, Environmentalist & Faculty KILA on 8th and 9th December 2023.
• A seminar on “Climate changes and career opportunities in IMD and MoE’s” was held on 15-11-2023 by Mr.  Niyas T, Scientist D, Meteorological Centre, IMD, Trivandrum enabling students to understand various career opportunities apart from the usual jobs to pursue after their graduation.
• 22-6-23: Introduction To Mathematics For AI And Data Science Seminar – The department of Mathematics organized a one day Career orientation program on Artificial intelligence and Data science. The Resource person of the event was Dr. Manu Madhavan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, IIIT Kottayam. The session proved to be very fruitful and was very informative for the students. The students were able to understand the basic concepts of AI.
• 14th March 2023 Pi Day – The Department of Mathematics celebrated Pi Day. A talk was arranged for the students in which Shri. Albert Antony T of PMGC, Chalakudy served as the resource person. The topic of the talk was Linear Algebra.
• The Department arranged the inauguration of its association ‘MERAKI’ on 17-11-2022. The program was inaugurated by Dr. P. V. Hareesh Kumar, Director and (Retd) Scientist ‘G’, NPOL, DRDO.
• Conducted a talk on “Golden Ratio” by Prof. Cicily K P, HOD , Dept. of Mathematics , Carmel College , Mala
• Conducted a talk on “An Insight to Mathematics” by Dr. Sunny Kuriakose, General Secretary, KMA , in connection with official inauguration of P.G. course
• A plethora of humanitarian activities were organized in connection with the “Heart to Heart Programme” initiated by Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy.
• Visited “Abhaya Bhavan” an institution for the physically and mentally challenged during the time of Christmas.
• Visited “SS SMILE VILLAGE”, a center for disabled at Vettikuzhy in connection with Christmas celebration.
• Weekly Quiz competitions for all students of Mathematics Department by Quiz club.
• Monthly Debate competition for students of Mathematics Department organized by the debate club on social issues.
• Distribution of Pothichoru on every Thursdays for the needy people.
• Free Tuitions at Mercy home by students.
• Distributed “New Born Kit” to the new born babies at Government hospital, Chalakudy in connection with Onam celebration.
• Collage competition on the topic “ONAM ANNUM INNUM” as part of Onam Celebration.
• Tour by staff and students of III B.Sc. Mathematics to Thenmala on 17^th September 2015.
• A talk on the topic “Constructible Numbers” by Dr. Rani M J Former HoD of Mathematics, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara in connection with Association inauguration.
• Published the Mathematical journal on “French Mathematicians”.
• Visited “Old Age Home”, Karuna Bhavan, Chalakudy for celebrating Christmas.
• Logo and a poster making competition in the college level connection with “Anti-ragging Day”.
• Organized a one day seminar for the high school Mathematics teachers of various schools in Irinjalakuda Educational District and the sessions were handled by Prof. M D Varghese, Former Associate Professor of St. Thomas College, Thrissur and Mr. Jaison Jacob, HoD of Mathematics, St. Aloysius College, Elthuruthu, Thrissur.
• Celebrated World Mathematics Day on 2^nd March, 2016 and Prof. M D Varghese gave a talk on “History of Mathematics”.
• Tour by staff and students of 1st and 2^nd year M Sc. Mathematics to Kodaikanal on 4^th May, 2016.
• Students conducted teachers day celebration.
• Students participated in the pookkalam competition and tug of war competition conducted by the college and secured first prize.
• Organized a one day state level seminar on ‘Representation theory, Semigroup and its applications’ and sessions were handled by Dr. Viji M, Assistant professor in St. Thomas College, Thrissur and Dr. Krishna M, Assistant Professor in Kerala varma College, Thrissur.
• Inter-departmental level Poster and Collage Competitions was organized in connection with National Mathematics Day on 22 ^nd December, 2017.
