Energy Conservation Society (ECS) in collaboration with the Physics department of Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy with the support of Energy Management Centre-Kerala conducted an inter-collegiate Energy Quiz competition on 22nd August 2022, Monday at college auditorium. The formal inauguration session started with prayer. The Principal, Dr. Sr. Irene welcomed the gathering. The program marked its commencement with the pledge taken by students and the teachers about the conservation of energy, the pledge was recited by Dr. K. Soman (President, Energy Conservation Society), followed by the Presidential address. Smt. Sindhu Loju (Vice chairperson, Chalakudy Municipality) inaugurated the function. Smt. Sathyabhama (ECS chairperson, Thrissur) felicitated the occasion . Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Trinayanan ( General Secretary, ECS).
Mr. Baby Kuriakose (Consulting Energy Technologist) served as the quiz master. 28 teams participated in the competition. The quiz was conducted in two rounds and 8 teams qualified for the final round. The first position was bagged by Manju Thomas & Anjali Jino of St. Theres’s College Ernakulam. The second position was secured by John Regis & Anand Varma R of Christ College, Irinjalakuda. The third position was achieved by Daya Das P. K & Shahanas T. S of Mar Thoma College for Women, Perumbavoor. The Programme concluded with the valedictory Session. Ms. Shiji Shanmugan (ECS Member) felicitated the session. The Principal, Dr. Sr. Irene distributed the prize for winners. Ms Fency K F (Asst.Prof. Physics, Sacred Heart chalakudy) proposed the vote of thanks.
The quiz competition was an attempt to bring awareness amongst the youth about the dire need for the conservation of energy for a better future and make them aware about their responsibilities for the same.
