Red Ribbon Club and NSS Units 76 and 84 of Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy observed World Aids Day on December 1, 2023. As a part of the awareness campaign, red ribbons were distributed to all the staff members and students of the college. The official function started at 11:45am in the College Auditorium. Ms. Siya Santhosh, RRC Student Coordinator delivered the welcome address. Dr. Sr. Irene, Principal of the college presided over the function. An oath taking ceremony regarding spreading the awareness about HIV/ AIDS was conducted by Dr. Vijitha Mukundan, RRC Coordinator. An awareness session was delivered by Ms. Saritha K K, ICTC Counsellor, Taluk Hospital Chalakudy. She explained in detail about the preventive measures to be taken and different techniques available to treat the HIV/ AIDS affected patients. She also stressed on the theme of World AIDS Day for 2023, which is “Let Communities Lead”.Volunteers presented a mind blowing mime which highlighted the need to raise awareness and speak against the stigma around HIV/AIDS. Ms. Ashima Shibu, NSS Volunteer delivered a vote of thanks.
