The 27th of June was World PTSD Awareness Day. On 29th June 2022, the students and staff of the Department of Psychology organized an awareness programme on PTSD under the auspices of Awareness Day. The programme began at 11 am with seeking the blessings of the Almighty. Ms. Chandana K, IInd IMSc Psychology student started the programme with a soothing prayer song, spreading positive thoughts. Head of the Department of Psychology Ms Gayathri Suresh Babu, welcomed the gathering. The speech had an essence of her gratitude to the whole college for their support of the newly formed department. The beloved Principal Dr Sr Irene presided over the function. She stressed the importance of the department of Psychology in improving the well-being of the students of the college. Mrs Juliet Shony, Consultant Clinical Psychologist officially inaugurated the programme and threw light on the importance of the day.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychological disorder that is categorized under F. 43 of the International Classification of Disorders (ICD)-10 - Reaction to Severe Stress and Adjustment Disorders precisely 43.1. The talk was highly informative and gave a clearcut awareness of PTSD. Avoiding the clinical terms, the resource person could spread her knowledge to the people around her. The official meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Anakha Manoj K P, student of IInd IMSc Psychology. After the meeting, the students of the department presented an awareness drama on PTSD which was beautifully organized and directed followed by the exhibition arranged in the auditorium. The gathering was dispersed at 12.10 for lunch.
