The valedictory function of the extension activities of the department of English for the academic year 2022-23 was held on 22 March 2023. 'English for Communication Certificate Course ' for the Kudumbashree members of the Chalakudy Municipality and Free Tuition Programme for the students of the V. R Puram government school were the extension activities of the department
For the international Seminar ‘Svadhyaya: Discourse on the Art of Being’ on 2nd December 2022. Session I was engaged by Rev Dr. John Pozhathuparambil, OFM Conv, Campus Minister, Theo Instructor, Bellarmine University, Louisville, Kentucky. Session II was led by Dr. Mallika A Nair, Asst. Professor & Research Guide, PG Department of English& Research Centre, Vimala College, Thrissur.
On November 7 2022, Department Association was inaugurated by Dr. Muralikrishnan TR, Professor, Department of English, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady. Dr Muralikrishnan delivered a talk on ‘Fanfiction and Fandom Studies’.
Under the auspices of the Literary Club, the students of the Department staged Nagamandala on 7th November 2022.
On October 22, 2022 ‘English for Communication’ Certificate Course for women was inaugurated.
In connection with Septuagenarian Club of the Department, Septuagenarian Forum was conducted on October 14, 2022.
Department of English collaborated with GAD-TLC of MHRD, under Govt.of India from 18th October 2021 to 28th February 2022. Day 17 was engaged by the Department. The introductory session on the topic ‘Enntrepreneurial Skills/Enterprising Skills and Initiating Skills was engaged by Ms Sandra Juliet Jose, Asst. Professor, Dept. of English, Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy. Day 18 of the Course was engaged by Mr. Joyson Jose on ‘Problem Solving and Decision-Making Tools’. Day 19 of the Course was engaged by Ms. Ann Vincent Saravanan on ‘Challenges in a Start-Up Business’. Day 20 of the Course was engaged by Ms. Darly Mathew and Dr. Deepak Mathew DK on ‘Work Ethics and Customer Management’. Day 21 of the Course was engaged by Ms. Anju Rose Anto and Ms. Keerthana PK on ‘Team Building and Professionalism’.
Due to COVID-19 the Septuagenarian forum was conducted online on 2 October 2021.
The Association of the Department was inaugurated by Mr Robin Xavier (Calicut University Senate Member and Asst. Professor, Dept. of English, Devagiri College, Calicut). Mr Robin Xavier delivered a talk on ‘Literary Studies in the Post-Truth Era’.
As part of the National webinar ‘Translating Nation, Boundaries & Body Dr Elwin Susan John, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Sophia College, Mumbai delivered a talk on & quot; Literature and Epidermal Metaphors.
As part of the National webinar ‘Translating Nation, Boundaries &Body Ms. Amal P Mathews Assistant Professor, Department of English, Assumption College, Changanacherry delivered a talk on Surpassing Limits of Imagination: Changing Trends in Indian English Fiction.

As part of the International Seminar on ‘Reflection, Relativism and Recreation-Art as Cultural Capital’, Dr. Amelia Rauser, Full Bright Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Scholar ,Franklin and Marshall College, Pensylvannia University, USA delivered a talk on ‘Art as Cultural Capital’-‘Muslin and Marble; Neo-classical Art and Fashion in the 1790s’.
As part of the International Seminar on ‘Reflection, Relativism and Recreation - Art as Cultural Capital’, Dr. Shali Anthappan, Associate Professor, St. Joseph’s College, Irinjalakkuda delivered a talk on ‘Art as Cultural Capital’.
As part of the International Seminar on ‘Reflection, Relativism and Recreation - Art as Cultural Capital’, Rev. Dr. Sooraj George Pittappillil, Professor, Vadavathoor Seminary, delivered a talk on ‘Art as Cultural Capital’-Art and Literature in a Postmodern Perspective’.
English Association was inaugurated on 14 January 2019, by Dr. Raghul V Rajan, Asst. Professor, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University, Malappuram Campus. A seminar was conducted on ‘Post-colonialism; Theory and Practice’, on the day.
The manuscript magazine ‘Honey Pot’, the compilation of the creative literary works of students was released on 14 January 2019 by Dr. Raghul V Rajan, Asst.Professor, Department of English, Aligarh Muslim University, Malappuram Campus. The Department Newsletter also was published along with this.
In connection with the Histrionics Club, the poem ‘Man with the Hoe’ by American Poet Edwin Markham was enacted by the students of the Department.
The Department Association was inaugurated by Dr. C. G. Shyamala, Assistant Professor, Mercy College, Palakkad. A seminar on’ Research Methodology’ had been arranged along with this.
