The Psychology Association ‘ Exorior’ ,of Department of Psychology of Sacred Heart College organized a book Donation Campaign for the inmates of Shalom institute of Mental Health and Research. The program commenced at 11:30 am in Clare Hall with a prayer song and Ms Nivethitha Ajayaghosh , Head of the department of Psychology Welcomed everyone to the programme. Presentational address was delivered by the Vice Principal of the College Dr Sr Princy Anto. As a representative from the SIMHAR Joel Joy Jaison ,board member of SIMHAR delivered a Thank you Note for the contribution of staff and students of our College ,total of 381 books are donated by the staff and students.. The senior Psychologist of SIMHAR Psy.Blessymol Davis interacted with the students of Department of Psychology and was a informative session. The programme concluded with Vote of thanks by Subi A, secretary, ‘Exorior’ Psychology Association , Department of Psychology.
Students and Staff of psychology department in association with Psychology department association had visited the DePaul Smile Village at Vettikuzhi to spend a day with the aged members and to celebrate Christmas with them on 14th December 2022
World mental Health Day observation was conducted by the department of Psychology from October 10 to October 14. On October 10, Principal Dr. Sr. Irene inaugurated the program. She emphasized the importance of mental Health. On the first day of Mental health week observation Clinical psychologist, Mrs. Juliet Shony inspired the college students by giving an extensive talk about this year’s theme ‘ make mental health well-being for all a global priority’. On the second day, students of the Department of Psychology conducted a Psychology Exhibition and Competitions. Psychodrama – Without words was performed on the third day. And the last day October 13 a flash mob was performed by students at College and at Chalakudy Railway station to give awareness about World mental health day and its importance.
The department of Psychology in association with solace care and support for children with long term illness conducted a youth volunteership initiation and love knot invitation Program at 1pm on 11 th August 2020 in the college and addressed the gathering. They invited volunteers from different departments to work for the needy.
In connection with the World PTSD awareness Day on 27 th June 2022, the students and staff of the Department of Psychology organized an awareness program on the same on 29 th June 2022. Mrs Juliet Shony, consultant clinical Psychologist inaugurated the programme and threw light on the importance of the day. The students of the department presented an awareness drama on PTSD followed by the exhibition organized in the auditorium.
