Sacred Heart College was established in the year 1980 as a junior college with pre-degree courses and was upgraded in the year 1991 to offering UG level courses. Hindi is taught as a second language in the college from the very beginning with the thought that it will help the students who seek jobs or plans to pursue higher studies outside the state.
When college started functioning in the year 1980, Hindi was opted as the Second language for the Pre Degree Course. The syllabus for the course consisted of a collection of prose, collection of poetry( old & new), A short story collection & grammar.
Despite being a second language, it was whole heartedly accepted and there were students who excelled in it. The UG courses were introduced by 1993 contributing to a hike in the number of Hindi students.
