The department of commerce is one of the listed departments in sacred heart college, Chalakudy since 2005. The effective leadership of the former Principal, Rev. Sr. Therese Mary serves as pointer to proudly assert greater goals and achievements accomplished by the departments hitherto. The department offers an array of courses in B Com. with Computer Application and B Com. with Finance. In 2012, the department initiated a new course on M Com. with Finance. Emphasizing our motto and the philosophy of corporate endeavor for corporate excellence to promote the inclusive nature of mutual support in the furtherance of a common cause, we offer excellent guidance to our students to meet the challenging opportunities as more and more flock together under this stream to ensure maximum exposure to a wide variety of invaluable learning experiences.
The Department of Commerce has been staging an excellent record of results in the various examinations conducted within the university. The highlight lies in the fact that we not only focus on educational activities; but also on extra - curricular activities. We have students who have excelled themselves in activities like sports, arts and other competitive areas. Various carrier guidance programs, cultural programs and national seminars were also conducted. We also cater to the needs of the society with social welfare programs like Amma.Com, to promote computer literacy for women outside the campus and also extends their helping hands as Samaritans for the poorer strata of the society.
A major initiative by the department was the introduction of a state - level project presentation competition known as KNOWCOM fest. Selected projects were published as a research journal. Research Journal for Commerce and Development studies (RJCD) is an ISSN (2394-8388) recognized research journal which offers a platform for researchers and Post Graduate students around the state to publish their papers.
