Regional Inter-Collegiate Future Leaders Debate Competition by XIME, Kochi: The Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy is privileged to host one of the prestigious events of XIME Institute, Kochi, in fond memory of Ms Maria Philip named Maria Philip Future Leaders Debate Competition on 30^th November 2022. It was a regional inter-collegiate debate competition. There was a total of 7 teams, including participants from neighbouring institutions. The event began at 10 a.m. with a brief inaugural ceremony. The ceremony was started by Dr. Sr. Reena Ittyachan, Principal, Sacred Heart College. The competition was held in Sacred Heart College's Clare Hall.The event was meticulously carried out by a team of two faculty coordinators, Dr. Smitha Jose Panackal and Dr. Feba Thomas, and three student volunteers from the XIME Institute, with the assistance of Debate Club Coordinator Mr. Nijil Jacobi, internal coordinator Dr. Jisha Jose Panackal and the entire team of the Computer Science Department of Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy.Two outside judges were present to assess the performance of the participants. Prajyoti Niketan College, Pudukkad, emerged victorious. Christ College, Irinjalakuda, came in second place. The competition ended at 12.30 p.m. Soon after, there was a valedictory gathering in which the certificates were distributed to the winners and participants. The Principal and Coordinator joined the XIME team for an invitation lunch at Apollo Tyres Guest House in Perambra. After a brief campus tour, the XIME crew left about 3.30 p.m.
College-level Debate Competition: The Debate Club and the Department of Computer Science, Sacred Heart College collaborated to host a debate competition on 18^th November 2022. It is held as a preliminary round to pick teams for the forthcoming regional inter-collegiate Future Leaders Debate Competition. which is to be organized by the XIME Institute, Kochi. The event is set to take place at the Sacred Heart College Campus on 30^th November, 2022.
Should reservation be based on economic status?: The Department of Economics organised a Debate on Should reservation be based on economic status? in collaboration with Debate Club on 9^th November 2022 at 2:30 pm in III BA Economics Class.
God's own country without Dogs: The Department of Economics organised a Debate on God's own country without Dogs in collaboration with Debate Club on 15^th October 2022 at 2:30 pm in III BA Economics Class.
75 years of independence: Can India truly be counted among the world’s freest?: The Debate Club and the Department of Economics in association with IQAC, Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy conducted a Debate Competition on 75 years of independence: Can India truly be counted among the world’s freest? on 12th August 2022 at 1:00 pm in the Clare Hall in connection with Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration. There were 22 participants from all the departments. Anchris Joshy, Student, II MSc Zoology and Ayisha Farheen, III BSc Physics won the Best Debater Awards in the competition.
Does family system is getting changed in the transforming world?: A debate was organized by the Debate Club and the Civil Service Club of Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy in association with CMC Vision Channel as part of their campus Youth Fire Show on 5^th March 2020.
Poverty alleviation or space programs, which is to be given priority?: A debate was organized by the Debate Club and the Civil Service Club of Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy in association with CMC Vision Channel as part of their campus Youth Fire Show on 5^th March 2020.
Changing role of women in family and society: The debate was organized by the Debate Club and the Civil Service Club of Sacred Heart College with the objective of promoting the idea of gender equity among the girl students on 14^th January 2020 at College Garden.
