Academic Profile

Ph. D (Institute for Ocean Management, Anna University)

M Sc. Zoology (University of Madras)

Postdoctoral / Professional Experience

Research Fellow at Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics, Hannover, Germany.

Research Interests

Environmental Science, Climate Change, Greenhouse gases, Mangroves

Understanding of biogeochemical processes that affect the flow of carbon through its various reservoirs in a tropical coastal ecosystem is the need of the hour. In field measurements to quantify greenhouse gases using especially in highly heterotrophic environments such as mangrove and coral reef ecosystems and delineating the sources of these gases using stable isotopes and understanding their production or sequestration helps understand their levels in the atmosphere. Such studies give a better understanding of the sources and sinks of these gases for predicting the global trace gas productions in similar ecosystems around the world and an insight into their role in climate change.
