Vinitha M. S. is currently pursuing her PhD in Zoology, specializing in behavioural ecology, invasion biology, and the cognitive and personality traits of gastropods, while serving as Guest Lecturer in Zoology at Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Chalakudy. She earned her MSc in Zoology from Calicut University with distinction and qualified for CSIR JRF and Lectureship in 2019 with an all India rank of 61. Her pioneering research includes the first systematic study of land snail cognition in India—only the third such study worldwide.
She has published in Scopus indexed peerreviewed journals such as Behavioural Processes and Ethology Ecology & Evolution, and her work was recognized with the Best Paper Award at the South Asian Malacology Conference (2024). Vinitha has served as Guest Lecturer at Sree Narayana College, Nattika, and worked for two years as a Research Fellow at the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), IISc campus, Bangalore, contributing to interdisciplinary projects bridging ecology, behaviour, and conservation. Her technical expertise includes statistical modelling (R, SPSS, GraphPad), and she remains dedicated to advancing ecological research while fostering student engagement and academic excellence.
