The International Plastic Bag Free Day:The International Plastic Bag Free Day was celebrated on 12th july 2022 in Sacred Heart College, Chalakudy. The Department of zoology organised the celebration. Students of MSc Zoology prepared paper bags and cards and distributed them to the Principal,all departments, office, library and to non- teaching staff. A message on paper bags and the significance of the day was given by the students. A poster and a short gif regarding the importance of day was made and circulated.
National bird watching day: Commemorated National bird watching day on 12th November 2022. Conducted bird watching in Kottattu wetlands. Ms. Siji P.K,Ornithologist cum dragonfly researcher and volunteer W W F was the resource person. Parayanthodu bridge is the site where wetland birds used to visit.Students used binoculars to watch birds opting line transect method.They could identify 27 species of birds.
Commemoration of world diabetes day: Commemoration of world diabetes day on 14th November 2022 .The students and teachers of the Department of Zoology gathered in front of the College portico. Principal Dr.Sr. Irene gave a message on how to keep away lifestyle diseases at any age by keeping a healthy lifestyle.The students took pledge to follow a lifestyle that can make life diabetes free and also utilise the access to diabetes care. After that the students and teachers spread the message of diabetes free life to the public by organising a rally and distributing gooseberries to the passers by. Diabetes juice drinking competition was conducted by the department in which all students and teachers actively participated.The winners were presented with gifts.
