That the people shall know, for, knowledge is power. Education opens one’s inner eye to the inestimable glory and enduring beauty of wisdom. Committed to serving the nation and humanity, this college founded in His name, envisages the academic pursuit of truth and the search for righteous living as the supreme task.
Sacred Heart College is run by sisters of Franciscan Clarist Congregation. The college is managed by the Alvernia Province, Irinjalakuda.
F.C.C sisters consider it their privilege to work tirelessly for the empowerment of the poor and marginalized, especially women. Alvernia Province is involved in humanitarian activities all around the world including charity homes in Kenya, Italy and Germany. The congregation runs schools, colleges, homes for the destitute, and has set up small-income generating works for women. There are 13 schools, 3 colleges including one nursing college, 6 orphanages, 2 hospitals, 4 social centres, a press, 3 old age homes and a cancer hospice under the congregation. The congregation has also set up 3 garment making units which support more than 500 families. Shanthi Bhavan – a home for the differently-abled girls- supports the education of physically challenged students. By providing them with educational opportunities and vocational training, the congregation empowers them to live their lives with dignity.
The Management also spends 20% of its income on humanitarian activities. Half of this amount is used for the education of economically backward students. We ensure that money does not stand in the way of a girl’s education.
Our management believes that women can become instruments of change and therefore gives importance to imparting value based quality education to women from all sections of society. The management has always given thrust to academic excellence, ethical principles, social sensitivity and spiritual sublimity while grooming students.
Love of Sacred Heart of Jesus and the charism of St. Francis of Assisi (the first ecologist of the world) and St. Clare (the mediator of mass media) guide us in all over endeavours.
