Introduction

Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Chalakudy recognizes the importance of scholarly publications as a means to disseminate knowledge, encourage academic research, and enhance the reputation of the institution. This publication policy sets guidelines and standards for the publication activities of faculty, researchers, and students affiliated with the college.

Objectives

The objectives of this policy are as follows:

  • To promote high-quality research and scholarly publications.
  • To uphold academic integrity and ethical standards in all publications.
  • To support and encourage faculty, researchers, and students in their publishing endeavours.
  • To ensure that publications contribute positively to the academic reputation of the college.

Scope

This policy applies to all faculty, researchers, and students of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Chalakudy who engage in publishing activities, including but not limited to:

  • Research articles in UGC/SCOPUS indexed journals
  • Conference proceedings, and book chapters with ISBN
  • Books and monographs.

Publication Ethics

Authors, including faculty, researchers, and students, are expected to adhere to high ethical standards in their publications. This includes:

  • Avoiding plagiarism and properly citing sources.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the research presented.
  • Disclosing any potential conflicts of interest.
  • Respecting copyright laws and intellectual property rights.

Types of Publications Supported

The college encourages publications in the following forms:

  • Peer-reviewed research articles in reputable journals.
  • Chapters in edited books.
  • Books published by recognized academic publishers.
  • Conference papers and presentations. (India and Abroad)

Financial Support

  1. Patents – Rs. 10,000/- per person
  2. SCOPUS/ Sci/ Web of Science / UGC Care Journal publications – Rs. 5000/- per publication limited to two numbers per head during an academic year.
  3. Rs. 1000/- per entry of chapter/ edited books published.
  4. Rs. 5000/- book published.
  5. The award of this financial support is subject to the recommendation of the Research Committee after proper scrutiny.

Intellectual Property

Authors retain the intellectual property rights to their work. However, by publishing under the auspices of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Chalakudy, authors grant the college non-exclusive rights to reproduce, distribute, and display their work for educational and promotional purposes.

Publication Approval Process

Before submitting their work for publication, faculty, researchers, or students must:

  • Plagiarism certificate should be produced along with each work before the Research Committee.
  • Comply with the formatting and style guidelines recommended by the publication venue.
  • Where applicable, disclose any funding received for the research.
  • Certificate of approval shall be issued by the Research Committee after proper scrutiny

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for

  • Ensuring the originality and authenticity of their work.
  • Providing accurate and complete information for publication.
  • Responding to reviewer comments and revising manuscripts as necessary.

Collaboration and Authorship

The college encourages collaborative research and multi-authored publications. Authors should:

  • Clearly define authorship roles based on substantial contributions to the research.
  • Acknowledge the contributions of others who have supported the research in a meaningful way but do not meet the criteria for authorship.
